Safety Trance-took the sounds of reggaetón and techno and launched them into a distant future. Autechre turned in a show-stopping session of favorite tunes from the early ‘90s, and Cardopusher-a.k.a. Plenty of DJs opted for a bit more rhythm, though. On a more stilled note, Steffen Bennemann soundtracked a sleep-in concert with a heady mix of sludgy synthesizers, barely-there techno, and lush jazz records. Jake Muir, one of Berlin’s strongest sonic cartographers, charted out the intersection of frigid electronics and barely-there dub, and KMRU and Aho Ssan showed off their vision of world’s-end noise and freaked-out sound design. Torus and Spekki Webu both explored their fusions of trance and ambient music in sprawled-out sets, while Time Is Away dug into folk-music traditions and chilly ambience.
